From December to February, you’ll enjoy long days, beautiful outdoor ceremony venues and some of the best chances for outdoor celebrations.
But Tasmania also likes to keep you guessing, so there are a few things you’ll want to plan for!

Yes, summer is Tasmania’s most popular wedding season, and for good reason. The days are longer, gardens are in full bloom, vineyards are popping, there’s a whole vibe going on….. and outdoor ceremonies are generally more comfortable than during the cooler months.
A Tasmanian summer wedding offers incredible variety. One weekend, I might deliver a beach ceremony by the sea. The next, I could be among towering trees for a forest wedding. Or I might celebrate with a couple at a lovely farm or winery.
There really is something for every style of couple.
If you’re coming from interstate or overseas, summer is a great time. You can easily mix your hitching day with a holiday and explore all that Tasmania offers.

The important thing to know is that Tasmanian weather likes to keep us on our toes. You might wake up to sunshine, enjoy a gentle breeze at your ceremony, and see a lovely golden sunset, all in one day.

Summer doesn’t guarantee hot weather either. I’ve conducted weddings in January where guests were reaching for jackets, and yes….. it’s even possible to see snow on kunanyi / Mount Wellington during summer. This is Tasmania, after all.

Summer is ideal for couples dreaming of a garden wedding in Tasmania. Flowers bloom, gardens come alive, and nature surrounds you.
Many private estates, historic properties and boutique venues showcase stunning gardens during the warmer months. Flowers are out, lawns are lush….. who wouldn’t want a side of LUSH?
The natural backdrop often needs little extra styling.
Garden weddings are perfect for couples who want a relaxed and romantic vibe. Plus, they still get all the perks of a Tassie venue.

Summer is peak wedding season in Tasmania.
If you have a specific date, celebrant (well hello there….. that’s me!), or venue in mind, I recommend booking your key vendors early.
Popular venues, photographers, celebrants, musicians, and accommodation often fully book ahead of time, especially for Saturday weddings. Although, I am seeing a huge shift towards weekday weddings….. especially elopements.
Consider Your Guests
If you’re inviting guests from interstate, remember that summer is also a busy travel period. Encourage everyone to book flights and places to stay early. This is especially important for Christmas, New Year, and other holidays.
And if they’re coming all this way….. why not make a holiday of it?
